Electrical Billing Clerk

 

Description: A permanent vacancy in the Cochrane main office for the General Utilities Department now exists.
This position is responsible for electrical billing as well as all other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education preferred.

  • Excellent computer skills with knowledge of MS
    Office programs such as Word, Excel, etc.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of utility field an asset (electrical).

  • Customer service and previous billing experience an asset.

  • Bondable and confidentiality are requirements.

  • Bilingualism is an asset (French and English)

  • Valid Driver’s license required.

  • Experience with Harris Billing System an asset.

 

Basic Position Outline:

  • Production of monthly customer billing.

  • Issuance and final reads of service orders.

  • Answer telephone inquiries and serve customers at counter.

  • Preparation of items for reading purposes.

  • Appropriate filing.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Powerline Maintainer or 3rd Year Apprentice

(Kapuskasing Service Centre)

A full-time vacancy currently exists with the General Utilities Department at the Kapuskasing Service Centre,
who provides contractual services to Northern Ontario Wires Inc. Northern Ontario Wires maintains a regional
infrastructure in the communities of Cochrane, Iroquois Falls and Kapuskasing that safely and reliably delivers
electricity to homes, schools, businesses and other facilities in these communities. This includes delivering and
maintaining poles, wires, and underground cables; responding to emergencies; tracking energy usage; and
providing monthly customer billing.


Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 diploma.

  • Red Seal Certification as a Powerline Maintainer or currently registered as a 3rd year apprentice.

  • Shall possess and maintain a valid Class “D” Ontario Driver’s Licence with a Class “Z” endorsement.

  • Shall be thoroughly familiar with the Company’s equipment, standards and practices, applicable to this type of work.

  • Shall have demonstrated a history of safe work practices and a full understanding of work protection code.

  • Bilingualism is an asset (French and English)

  • Must be able to carry out the physical work demands of the classification.

  • Operation of specific aerial devices and tools.

  • Must be able to work at heights, climb poles and work in inclement weather.

 

Basic Position Outline:

  • Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor.

  • Perform live line work on the distribution system.

  • Install hydro/telephone poles, transformers etc.

  • Install high voltage wire and cable.

  • Perform meter reading, meter installation (residential/commercial)

  • Perform service upgrades for residential and commercial.

  • Be able to work in a team environment to ensure the delivery of a high standard of customer service.

  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with all relevant legislation, safety regulations and other requirements to which the Company subscribes or is obligated to enforce.

  • Perform street light maintenance and installation.

  • The successful candidate is expected to maintain residency at a location permitting not more than a 30-minute response time (including inclement weather) to NOW facilities in Kapuskasing.

  • Other duties as assigned.
